During his Bachelor’s and Master’s studies in Bioengineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Luca developed an early fascination for food process engineering, particularly extrusion. He deepened his technical expertise through several project assignments in the field of extrusion, including his Bachelor’s thesis conducted at the Fraunhofer IVV in Freising. In both his Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, Luca focused on the structure development of plant-based proteins during extrusion. He further gained practical experience as a student research assistant at KIT and as a working student at nexnoa.
In addition to extrusion, the main focus areas of his Master’s studies included food process engineering, rheology, and product design. After completing his Master’s thesis at nexnoa, he continues to consistently pursue the topic of extrusion within the company, working not only on process development but also on the post-processing of extruded products.
